Lead Smarter with NotebookLM

As a campus leader, I don’t struggle with access to information.

I struggle with time to process it all.

Walkthroughs. Curriculum. PD. Emails. Data. Initiatives.

It’s constant.

And if we’re honest, the challenge isn’t the work—it’s making sense of everything fast enough to actually lead well.

That’s where Google NotebookLM has changed the game for me.

What NotebookLM Actually Is
NotebookLM is an AI-powered tool from Google that allows you to upload your own documents and interact with them.

You can ask questions, generate summaries, identify patterns, and even create next steps—but what makes it different is that it only pulls from what you upload.

It’s not searching the internet.

It’s working from your campus, your data, your priorities.

And that’s what makes it powerful.

What I’m Uploading Right Now
I’m not adding extra work to my plate—I’m using what I already have.

Walkthrough notes. Lesson materials. Standards. Pacing guides. PD slides. Campus updates. Data snapshots.

If I’m using it to lead, I can upload it to NotebookLM.

That shift alone matters. Because instead of letting information sit, I’m actively processing it in a way that moves me toward action.

What This Looks Like in My Leadership Practice
What I’ve noticed is that NotebookLM hasn’t changed what I do—it’s changed how I think through it.

When I upload walkthrough notes, I’m no longer rereading pages, trying to piece things together. I’m asking:

What trends are showing up across classrooms? What do I need to reinforce? Where do teachers need support?

Now my coaching conversations are grounded in patterns, not isolated moments.

When I’m supporting teachers with instruction, especially when content feels heavy or overwhelming, I can upload a lesson or unit and quickly get clear on the most important learning, where students might struggle, and what strong questioning could sound like in real time. It helps me respond faster—and more precisely.

After professional development, I’m not just hoping teachers “got something” from the session. I can take those materials and turn them into something usable—clear takeaways, reflection questions, or immediate next steps. It shifts PD from something teachers attend to something they actually apply.

Even at the leadership level, it’s helping me cut through the noise. When I’m looking at updates, data, and competing priorities, I can quickly identify what actually matters most that week and what needs to be communicated to staff. That clarity changes how I lead my time.
And one of the simplest—but most impactful—shifts has been how I support teachers with information. If something is long, unclear, or overwhelming, I can turn it into something they can use immediately—a checklist, a quick reference, or a simplified explanation.

Because at the end of the day, if teachers don’t understand something quickly, they won’t use it.

What This Changes
NotebookLM doesn’t replace instructional leadership.

It sharpens it.

It helps me:
  • Process information faster
  • Be more intentional in coaching
  • Communicate with clarity
  • Focus on what actually matters

Less overwhelm. More clarity. Stronger implementation.

Your Challenge This Week
Don’t just read this—try it.

This week, I want you to take one simple step:
Upload one document you’re already using.

It could be walkthrough notes. A lesson. A PD deck. A campus update.

Then ask 2–3 questions that would actually help you lead better:
  • What trends do I see?
  • What should I prioritize?
  • What should teachers do next?

And most importantly—use the response to take one action.

Adjust a coaching conversation. Refine a plan. Clarify something for your team.

Then share what happened.

What did you try? What worked? What surprised you?

If you’re connected to me through this session or my network, I want to hear it.

Final Thought
We don’t need more tools.

We need better ways to think.

NotebookLM helps you take everything you’re already doing—and lead with more clarity, focus, and purpose.

Because the real power of tools like this isn’t in knowing they exist.

It’s in how we choose to use them to lead.

Here’s to being a lead learner—in leadership and in life. Lead. Learn. Live. Repeat.
